How a Radar Level Sensor Works

An 80GHz FMCW (Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave) radar emits a chirp signal toward the surface. The time-of-flight and the frequency difference between the transmitted and reflected signal are converted into an exact distance. The result is output as 4-20mA, RS485/Modbus, or pushed wirelessly over 4G — with no contact with the measured medium.
