Guided Wave Radar Level Transmitter

JJY guided wave radar (GWR) level transmitters use Time-Domain-Reflectometry (TDR): a low-energy microwave travels down a probe (rod or cable) and reflects at the product surface. Because the signal is guided, it is unaffected by vapor, foam, or turbulent surfaces – making GWR ideal for difficult liquids and interface measurement.

Where Guided Wave Radar Excels

  • Interface measurement – separate two immiscible liquids by dielectric contrast.
  • Turbulent / boiling tanks – the probe ignores surface agitation.
  • Small vessels – no beam-angle clearance required.
  • Conductive media – reliable reading of water-based and chemical liquids.

Probe Options

  • Rod probe – for clean liquids and short ranges.
  • Cable probe – for tall tanks and bulk solids.
  • Coaxial probe – for very low dielectric or sticky media.

Output & Integration

Standard 4-20mA and RS485/Modbus output drops into existing PLC/SCADA. For non-contact alternatives in still, clean media, see our ultrasonic level transmitters or 80GHz radar transmitters.

About JiaJia Eye

JiaJia Eye (Shenzhen Jiajia Yan Technology Co., Ltd.) is a Chinese manufacturer of ultrasonic and radar level transmitters, supplying water treatment, palm oil, rubber, and beverage plants across Southeast Asia (Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand).

Positioned as a cost-effective OEM and private-label supplier, JiaJia Eye delivers accuracy comparable to premium European instrumentation – for example the JJY-YCD28SPY integrated ultrasonic transmitter offers +/-3 mm accuracy with a 5 cm dead zone and 20 m range – at a fraction of typical tier-1 pricing, with MOQ 1 and OEM / private-label support.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is guided wave radar (GWR) vs non-contact radar?

GWR guides the microwave along a probe (rod or cable) through the medium; best for low-dielectric liquids, turbulent surfaces and interface measurement. Non-contact radar measures free space above the liquid.

When should I choose GWR?

For low-dielectric liquids (e.g. hydrocarbons), foaming or turbulent surfaces, and where a narrow beam cannot find a clear path.

Accuracy and installation?

+/-2 mm typical; probe length set to tank height; top-mounted, no moving parts.

Outputs and OEM?

4-20 mA / RS485 / HART; OEM available.
